Spaces at
Haus der
Statistik
From 6 March to 9 April 2023, the application for long-term usable spaces at Haus der Statistik was open! Thank you for the many great and inspiring applications!
Together with you we will create a lively, affordable and diverse city! In a first application phase, spaces for social, cultural* and educational purposes in Haus A will be allocated. Further spaces in the quarter will be allocated step by step starting at the end of this year.
Which areas are affected?
The existing buildings of the former House of Statistics (dt. Haus der Statistik) are currently being renovated. The Berlin administration will move into a large part of the space (Building A-D) in mid-2024. From the end of 2025, uses from the arts, culture, social affairs and education are to move into seven floors in the prominent head building "Haus A". These spaces are now being conditionally allocated in an initial application phase.
Initially, spaces will be allocated on floors 2-7 of Haus A. Applications are open for individual rooms as well as so-called option rooms, which will be shared with other users. Other spaces in the quarter will be allocated gradually from the end of this year.
Note on floor plans:
The proportional distribution of space per floor is shown, as well as a possible scenario of interior finishes and furnishings.
There are three room categories:
Individual rooms (blue)
Areas for individual arrangement of own use
Common spaces (red)
Areas shared by several users per floor (this includes sanitary rooms and adjoining rooms)
Option rooms (green)
Areas that are organized and shared by a group on a specific theme (e.g. culinary, playground, educational, etc.).

*Important #1:
Contract negotiations with our cooperation partner, BIM Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH are not yet finalized. The rooms are therefore awarded subject to reservation. This means: Only if the negotiations are successful and the desired conditions are achieved, the selected applicants will be the first tenants in Haus A. If the negotiations fail, we will not have any rooms to allocate.

*Important #2:
Spaces for solol artists are not yet allocated. It is still open whether these will be allocated via the "Arbeitsraumprogramm", the central funding program of the state of Berlin (www.berlin.de/sen/kultur/). This procedure has its own criteria. In the allocation procedure for rooms at the Haus der Statistik, interested individual artists are therefore only asked first about their spatial needs, which we can then pass on to those responsible in politics and administration.

Allocation Procedure
A multi-stage process to jointly find the most appropriate uses
The process allocates initial areas for art, culture, education & social affairs, which have been developed in trust since 2018 by ZUsammenKUNFT Berlin eG as part of the Koop5 cooperative community.
Step by Step
Allocation
Allocation
Initially, rooms in "House A" will be allocated. In further application phases from the end of 2023, selected first floor spaces in the neighborhood will follow, as well as spaces in the planned experimental houses "X1" (focus of use: sustainable management) and "X2" (social learning). Finally, we will allocate space in the "X3" experimental house (Inclusive Living & Healthy Future) - this process is not expected to start until 2025.
Fair
Selection
Selection
A diverse committee accompanies the multi-phase and transparent award process. The committee consists of representatives of the neighborhood development, active pioneer users of the House of Statistics, and external experts. The committee is guided by concrete criteria in order to ensure that the awarding of contracts is fair, coherent in terms of content and economically viable.

Usages
Usages
We are looking for individuals, groups or institutions that have an understanding of the context of the Haus der Statistik model project and whose planned use is oriented towards the common good. By this we mean that solidarity, community and participation are reflected as fundamental values in the use. We would like to see uses that contribute to a diversity of the user community - by breaking down barriers, creating programming for specific communities, or by the actors themselves being diverse in terms of origin, socioeconomic backgrounds, age, and possible limitations.
